About Baba
Vaishnav saint and scholar in the disciplic succession descending from Sri Nityananda Prabhu and Srimati Jahnava Mata
Sri Ananta Das Babaji Maharaja was a Vaishnav saint and scholar in the disciplic succession descending from Sri Nityananda Prabhu and Srimati Jahnava Mata. As the Mahanta of Radhakunda, he was the 34th representive of the seat of Sri Raghunatha Das Goswami. He is widely recognized as one of the foremost teachers of the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition on account of his voluminous and comprehensive commentaries elucidating the concepts presented in the foundational writings of the Six Gosvamis of Vrindavan as well as due to his humility and purity of heart.
May my tongue become overwhelmed by relishing the nectarean flavour of Radha’s holy name, may my feet walk over Vrindavan’s pathways that are marked with Her footprints, may my hands be engaged only in Her menial service, may my heart meditate on Her lotus feet, and may I develop love for the Lord of Her life (Krishna) through Her festival of emotions. (Rādhā-rasa-sudhā-nidhi 142)
Philosophy
Baba focused solely on the mood of being a dear maidservant (manjari) of Sri Radha and his books are drenched with this wonderful bhava
Baba chanting the mahamantra
harer nāma harer nāma
harer nāmaiva kevalam
kalau nāsty eva nāsty eva
nāsty eva gatir anyathā
In this Age of Kali there is no other means, no other means, no other means for self-realization than chanting the holy name, chanting the holy name, chanting the holy name of Lord Hari
An ocean of knowledge
om ajnana-timirandhasya jnananjana-salakaya
caksur unmilitam yena tasmai sri-gurave namah
I offer my respectful obeisances unto my spiritual master, who has opened my eyes, which were blinded by the darkness of ignorance, with the torchlight of knowledge
